  • Must every hole be fully sealed in the room when using portable air-con? How does a portable air-conditioner work?
To answer this question, we must first understand how a portable aircon works.
A huge misconception is a portable aircon performs similar to a wall-mounted unit. A portable aircon has a condenser (normally known as the “compressor”) within the unit itself. It requires air to transfer the heat and moisture from the room, and exhaust out from the pipe. The tricky part is, the air must come from somewhere in the room. In a room where it is absolutely sealed, there will be nothing to transfer the heat out of the room, and the portable aircon will simply fail to work. When using a portable aircon, always ensure there are pockets of air near the aircon, around the window area, so air can be exchanged, and therefore cool air can be distributed from the evaporator (also known as the “cooling coil”).
  • How is Coolah! different from other rental companies?

  • Why is my home aircon not cold?

There are myriad of reasons. However, the most common issue is the lack of airflow from within the aircon. Due to the air filter dirt, there may not be enough air flowing through the cooling coils (that’s where the air turns cold), therefore you won’t feel the air being as cold as supposed to be.

For portable aircon, remember, there must be NO obstruction on the exhaust hot airflow from the aircon all the way through the pipe. In another words, the diameter of the exhaust pipe MUST be the same throughout to avoid any unnecessary airflow pressure.

In addition, please DO NOT over-extend the exhaust pipe. Each pipe represents an additional pressure to the machine, which requires the portable aircon to exert more energy from the compressor to exhaust the pipe. The pipe must be WARM to the touch, and not hot. If it’s too hot to touch
