It was 11 PM on a very hot night. I remember it clearly. A mother called me, sounding so stressed and tired. Her aircon had broken down, and her baby just couldn’t sleep. The room was stuffy, the baby was crying, and she felt helpless.
When I arrived with the portable aircon and set it up, the room slowly cooled down. The baby finally stopped crying and fell asleep. The mother just looked at me and said, “Thank you.”
That is why I started Coolah.
Nearly three years ago, I left my job as a General Manager in big companies. I didn’t want to just sit in meeting rooms anymore. I wanted to do something real. I wanted to help people in Singapore when they needed it most — when the heat is unbearable and they just want to rest.
Since then, Coolah has grown more than I ever imagined. We have helped over 8,000 people. We’ve cooled down HDB bedrooms, living rooms for family gatherings, childcare centres, and even wedding tents. But the numbers aren’t what makes me proud.
What makes me proud are the messages I receive.
Like when Ully told me her baby slept soundly because we rushed over on the same day. Or when a customer with eczema thanked me for being patient and treating her like a friend. Or when Mohamed said he felt truly valued and could trust us for the long term.
These words mean the world to me. They show me that Coolah is not just a rental business. It is about emotional connection. It is about sincerity. Every time I clean a machine, test it, and carry it up the stairs to your home, I am doing it with one sincere heart. I want to make sure your family is safe, comfortable, and cared for.
When Others Copy, They Miss the Point
Lately, as Coolah has grown, I’ve noticed something happening in the market. Other businesses have started to pop up, and they look very much like ours. They use the same pricing structure, the same FAQ layout, and even the exact same words we use to describe our services.
It is the “monkey see, monkey do” approach. In business, people often copy what is successful.
But here is the truth: You can copy a website. You can copy a price list. You can copy the words “same-day delivery.” But you can never copy sincerity.
You cannot copy the feeling of wanting to help a desperate parent at 11 PM. You cannot copy the years of building trust, one customer at a time. You cannot copy the heart that goes into making sure every single detail is right before we leave your home.
Who I Really Am
Coolah was built on originality and genuine care. I am a portable aircon fanatic — I even built my own mini Peltier aircon from scratch! When I’m not working, I play Chopin on the piano for my two young kids. I am not just a businessman looking for a quick profit. I am a father, a creator, and someone who genuinely cares about your comfort.
To all our customers who have supported us, thank you. Thank you for your trust, your kind reviews, and for letting us into your homes. Coolah has grown because of you. We will keep innovating, we will keep improving, and we will always serve you with a sincere heart.
Because at the end of the day, cold air is just cold air. But comfort — true comfort — comes from knowing someone actually cares.
Stay cool,
Charles
